Fowling will be invading The Thunderdrome! with 3 lanes of awesomeness.
The Thunderdrome! ranks amongst the craziest damn thing most people have seen in some time. They took a once-abandoned velodrome, excavated it from under tons of overgrowth and neglect, fixed the surface and started racing Mopeds, Scooters, Supermoto, Motards, Minibikes, Road Bicycles and Mountain Bikes. It’s a track long dead brought back to life in the city that made racing possible in the first place. It’s truly a spectacle to behold.
The Dorais Velodrome is located at Mound Road and Outer Drive. Parking is free at The Thunderdrome! They’ve got the lot next to the track, which you access from Outer Drive. They’ll have their guards policing the lot; but they’re not responsible for lost or stolen goods or of your innocence, yada yada.
It’s $5 to spectate (free for 12 and younger).
Spectators can buy tickets at the door of the event.
Fowling will be $2 per team to play and winners hold the lane.
All proceeds from Fowling will be donated to Camp Casey.
Camp Casey is a nonprofit horseback riding program for children with cancer headquartered in Michigan. Through generous donations and amazing volunteers, Camp Casey has spread the healing power of horses for over eight years.
Food will be available by some very excellent food trucks.
You’ll also be able to purchase beer, wine, water and soda at the event.
No outside beer, liquor or wine is allowed per their insurance.
The bathrooms at the velodrome are of the porta-potty variety.
They contract Don’s ‘Lil Johns and they’re quite nice.
There will be 2 After-parties: One at the track from 7:00PM ’til whenever. Includes some rockin’ bands, beer and wine and a whole slew of surprises. Totally included in your ticket price. The second will be at the Fowling Warehouse following the end of the races (7pm-ish ’til whenever). Anyone showing their ticket stub from The Thunderdrome! gets Open Fowling for $5. All others pay the regular price of $10/person.
